Architecture Chelsea Conservation Area

Residential new-build, chelsea (conservation area)

High-end residential new build, situated on a prominent corner plot within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea conservation area.

The project replaced a derelict and overgrown post-war house, transforming it into a well-proportioned end-of-terrace property that maximized the site’s potential and enhanced the local streetscape. The design, initially developed by Rodic Davidson Architects, was carefully refined and realized by us through a thorough technical design process and a consistent on-site presence.

Key Project Features

Sustainability & Energy Efficiency: A hybrid steel and timber frame was chosen to reduce embodied carbon, while increasing insulation within the walls without compromising the internal space — an essential consideration for the developer. The design achieved high levels of thermal performance and airtightness, reducing operational energy use. To further minimise environmental impact, the property is heated by an air source heat pump and features a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system for comfort cooling and pre-conditioned, filtered air throughout the property.

Biodiversity & Surface Water Management: Green roofs and extensive planting have been integrated into the design to reduce surface water run-off and enhance the local biodiversity, contributing to a healthier, more sustainable urban environment.

Quality Craftsmanship: The interiors feature high quality finishes, with bespoke kitchen and wardrobes designed by Poliform.
